Implemented Centrally Managed Pickem & Survivor

Hi Bob,
Was wondering if its possible to somehow integrate your 3 sports related addons so that we only need to enter in one match into a centrally managed area and it is able to create the relevant entry into pickem, survivor and sportsbook? Basically right now, we go through and have to basically duplicate the same game into the 3 different applications. If it could all be centrally managed that would be fantastic.

If there is any site that provides fixtures and results, it would be great if the site could be polled to create new weeks, and auto administrate the 3 different addons. We currently use something custom developed to auto create weeks and poll a website for scores via a cron job.

Pickem and Survivor might at some point be combined (won't be until XF 2.x series however). Even tho Pickem and Survivor appear to be similar (specially from the Administration side), there are fundamental architecture differences that prevent them from being co-administered.

The rest will have to be handled via Custom Development.

Would it somehow be possible to construct an export/import function that would allow us as admins to share set-ups?

For example, if I set-up an NHL season with all the teams and matchups, I could export and share here with others so they could download and import into their setup.

No, that is not and won't be possible because of the architecture that allows this to be a multi sport addon and Sports are managed outside of the addon.

In order to do what you are suggesting, the SPORT architecture would have to be THE SAME for everyone, which means that I would have to manage the entire SPORT via the ADDON (which means it could only be used for the Sports that I decide to include with the addon).

I am definitely interested in this (combining the game building) for Pick'em and Survivor.

Pickem 2.x will have a new Pool Type called "Survivor" (still being worked on and might be awhile before its ready). The goal of this is to be able to create Survivor Pools within Pickem that work just like they do in Survivor 1.x. which eliminates having to manually create and manage the same Sport(s) Data in 2 different addons (which you all know takes A LOT of time). This is going to be a huge addition to Pickem!

There is one sacrifice (in regards to Survivor) that comes into play with this change and that is you will be starting FRESH with Survivor Pools in Pickem 2.x as your existing Survivor 1.x data can not be imported into Pickem 2.0 (for the same reasons as you can't share your pickem sports data (Seasons, Weeks, Games etc) with any other Sites).

On the positive side, its just a GAME and the only thing most players care about is the history of who the winners were in previous seasons and with Survivor, that is pretty easy to handle via a Survivor History Thread that lists each season and the winners (we've had one for over 15 years now that covers time playing Survivor manually in threads, at Yahoo Sports, at ESPN, at NFL.com and via Survivor 1.x).

NOTE: I won't be developing an XF2 version of Survivor. Existing Survivor license holders that don't already have a Pickem License will be given a Pickem License for free.

Please NOTE that existing Survivor Pools will NOT be imported into Pickem 2.0. Survivor Pools within Pickem 2.0 will be a fresh start.
