Core XenForo recently implemented Thread Tagging and with that implementation, also included a Tags Handler which allows Addons to integrate with the core system.
Existing Showcase Item tags will be converted into the new system when upgrading Showcase from SC 2.4.0 to SC 2.5.0 (you will need to be running SC 2.4.0 to upgrade to SC 2.5.0).
NOTE: Showcase 2.5.0 will have a minimum XenForo version requirement of XF 1.5.0 as well as a minimum Showcase version requirement of SC 2.4.0.
