Betting Exchange: "Create Open Bet" option ...

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding what this option allows.

I understand it allows any member to accept the bet, but it doesn't allow more than one member to accept the bet?

IE: IF I offered $1000 on the over on a game, only one member can accept that bet versus 20?

Yes, the Betting Exchange is for Member vs Member Bets eg, One (Bet Owner) vs One (unknown member), not One vs Many. An Open Bet can only be claimed by one member (first come, first serve).

Nothing prevents you from creating multiple open bets for the same thing tho, you can create the same Bet (Raiders score 20+ Points in the 4th quarter $1000) multiple times (in case you want to offer that same bet 5 times). I do this all the time (create a bet against one of my buddies and then offer that same bet to others by creating that same bet as an open bet multiple times. Sometimes I get multiple people to "bite", other times I either end up having them expire or a remove them and post different bets.

are people supposed to get alerts when there are open bets? I made a open bet, logged in as a test user and would have never known that there was a open bet.

No. There is currently no "WATCH" functionality for the Betting Exchange. Alerts for new content are sent out based on what people are WATCHING (Watched Forums = Alerts when a new Thread is created). There is an existing suggestion for being able to WATCH the Betting Exchange and if that is implemented, users can then WATCH the Betting Exchange and receive an alert (or email) for EACH new OPEN bet that is created.

There is a "New Bets" feature that is part of the core XenForo Find New system however. Here you can see that I created a new OPEN bet and it displays on the New Bets tab of the Core XF Find New System.
