Pick'em

Brought Pickem... tried it... it sucks.

A very difficult system in order to learn. The biggest issue, is that the entire thing has to be managed via the ACP, which means an admin can't get members involved in maintaining a pickem system unless they make them admins. Lets be honest... that isn't going to happen.

Sorry... simply unacceptable for the work it takes to have basically a polled system / game, based on votes alone and who won or lost.

This needs to be completely manageable from the frontend, not the backend. It would be impossible, near a full-time job, to manage this system in combination with sportsbook, on a single website for a league / tournament.

The system needs to work on more an input basis, all frontend, then a selection basis. You input data, whether a player, a team, a car, etc. That data is then selectable in setting up a pickem event. Enter data once, made available to x from the frontend for selection when setting up each event.

Sorry you feel that way (that it sucks). I have dozens of people that LOVE it and use it without ANY problems.

You are the first license holder to ever say that. Everyone else that has purchased it has had no problems setting it up and using it.

I originally did have all the Administration on the Frontend and was forced to move it to the backend (long story that I won't get into publicly, but you can inbox me if you want). I've been holding out on making a major change to the administration side in hopes of xf getting a Moderator Control Panel of some sorts. Also, if you are not aware, Pickem does have its own Admin Permission that you can use effectively to give a trusted individual the ability to login and only control Pickem. That is how Kier and Mike decided to do things rather than having a separate Admin CP and Moderator CP. I don't agree with their decision, but it is what it is. I am now in a position where I can make my own decisions and things like this I can change without having to deal with business partners having a say in how I do things.

Not sure I understand your comment about a "Polled" system. Pick has nothing to do with Polls. Its individuals competing against each other by making their "picks" on who they think is going to win each match in a given week. They are awarded a point for each correct pick and each week has a leaderboard that tracks this (along with overall standings for the season). That IS the concept of the addon. The entire point is to WIN each individual week and then the BIG Winner is the one at the end of the season with the most points.

Like with ALL my addons, all you have to do is ASK. That is what the suggestions forum is for. Someone already suggested scoring from the frontend and I've already agreed to this.

I disagree that ALL needs to be frontend. A SPORT is a one time setup. All it is, is a NAME.. ie NFL. A TEAM is a one time setup. Once you create a sport, you create the Teams for that sport (like for NFL, you create the 32 NFL Teams). Once they are added, that part of Admin is DONE. There is Nothing else ever to do unless they change a logo. I certainly don't see why those two things NEED to be frontend administration. Pool Creation, another one time setup thing. Then next two Steps (weeks and games) I completely agree that those could and should (at least games scoring) be frontend admin (so you wouldn't have to score the games when they are complete). Week Administration tho is another thing that you setup PRIOR to the pool atarting and you don't need to touch it at all during the season. The ONLY ongoing thing are the games and the only thing you do is SCORE them after completion.

I run the entire NFL season (Pre, Regular and Post) by myself. It takes me about 1 hour to setup the season (do the weeks and matches for each week). Then during the season, it takes appx 10 minutes per week to do the scoring. I don't know what type of Sport(s) you are trying to setup Pools for, but it certainly should not take THAT much time/effort. I use mine for NFL, NHL (Hockey), NBA (Basketball), MLB (Baseball), NCAA (College Football).

What do you mean the system needs to work on more an input basis? You are using some terms that make no sense to me like Pickem Event? There is no such thing as a pickem event, so I don't know how to even respond when I don't understand what you are talking about. Feel free to try and explain it differently as I just don't understand what you are talking about.

I have ran several different Pick'Ems... by myself, for tons of users. 20 minute job. If that...

The only thing that takes any amount of length for me is finding which icons I want to represent the teams... now that I have created them all, its really zero effort. You could have asked around, I have the SQL file that has all NBA, NHL, NFL, NCAA team and their logos listed as well as a zip with all icons at 32x32.

I've actually found it takes me more time running Sportsbook than Pick'em...
