Sorry for the dumb question but I'm playing around with this terrific addon for the first time today and could have sworn I saw a setting that automatically creates a thread on the forum when you post an article, I know it must be somewhere, I must have checked it because that is what's happening on my forum right now.

I've looked everywhere but cannot seem to find it!

Ha ha, lucky me.

Is there any way to automatically drag an image from the article into the thread?
Automatically, No (well, at least not without customization that would require programming).

You could manually edit the first post and use the article embed function of the editor to add the embed article, however, that is just a small thumbnail.

Something like this...

Grab the AMS BB Code from the Share this article sidebar block.. .

Selection_273.png

Go to the discussion thread... (this is XF 2.2, but its the same process for earlier xf 2 versions).

Selection_271.png

Edit the first post of the thread... If you have the AMS BB Code added to the editor toolbar, you can choose the article via that function (or just copy the AMS bbcode from the article itself (as mentioned above).

Selection_272.png

Remove the existing text and add the AMS BB Code.

Selection_274.png

Click on Preview to make sure its rendering the AMS BB Code (as shown below).

And Save...

Probably not what you wanted, but figured I'd let you (and anyone else reading this), a neat trick ;)

Excellent stuff again mate, thanks for that :)

So now I've got it set so a thread is automatically created when an article is posted, is there a setting that put a link to the thread at the bottom of the article?

No, just the Navigation Tab and the Sidebar Block (which is a button). In medium and narrow responsive, the sidebar moves below the article, so in essence, there IS a link to the thread via the button in the sidebar.

When the thread is created and the text "This thread is for the general discussion..." is added to the thread with the link to the article, is there a setting that allows the link to unfurl?

have you tried EDITING the post?

The TEXT can be changed (its a phrase), however, the LINK is done via PHP, so you'd have to modify programming code (in the article create service).

Yes I was just looking at this post Question....

Interesting stuff, I'll have a tinker about and see what I can do. Thanks Bob.
