Solution
Edit the template xa_ld_index and add your custom HTML where ever you want to.

WIth that said, LD has a widget position above the Item Listing, so you can create an HTML widget and have it displayed directly above the Items List (which is below the featured slider and Maps block).

You can also create a Notice and have it displayed only on the LD Index page :)

I just experienced an issue trying to use the widget option and I think this is due to me trying to create the widget multiple times.

Those errors have nothing to do with Link Directory. Those errors are caused by another addon that added a custom widget definition (sf_lp_features).

I think this is due to me trying to create the widget multiple times.
btw, there is no such thing as "THE" widget. You can create as many widgets from a specific Widget Definition as you want to.
