Hello i've changed all my articles to threads, in the overlay block there is a setting to choose which forum you want to create the thread in.
But whatever the forum you choose the thread is created in the linked forum to the article category.

This suggestion has been implemented. Votes are no longer accepted.
The behavior (not moving) is expected and is as designed... The bug is that the forum chooser should not be available for articles that have an existing associated thread.

But whatever the forum you choose the thread is created in the linked forum to the article category.
If an Article already has an existing associated thread, that thread is simply updated in place. There is no thread being created as the thread already exists. The Category that the Article is associated with has absolutely nothing to do with any part of the convert to thread process. The convert article to thread process is not designed to MOVE the existing thread. As explained above, the Forum Chooser should not be displayed for articles that have an existing thread.

If an Article does NOT have an existing associated thread, then a new Thread is created and will be created in the Forum that the viewing moderator selects.

So again, the BUG is that the Forum Chooser should not be displayed when the Article has an existing thread associated with it.

With that said, one of the AMS Premium license holders suggested that I consider changing the designed behavior of the Convert Article to Thread for articles with associated threads, to be able to choose a forum to MOVE the existing thread to.

I'll mark this as "Updated" as the bug you reported is NOT a Bug and I've decided to UPDATE the Convert Article to Thread function for articles with existing thread to let the moderator choose a Forum to Move the existing thread into.
