Curious if Sportsbook can be adapted to F1 or other motorsports events (driver winners, constructor winners etc). Or is this something outside of the scope of this addon.

It can be used for all sports. I run F1 bets with no issues whatsoever. My F1 bets are usually set out like this.

Create Event - So this is the overall event that you will put the outcomes into. For example Monaco GP Race Winner
Create Outcomes - This is where you add each driver so for example L.Hamilton 4/1 odds. Max Vertappen 8/1 odds.

I use sportsbook for the following, Football, NFL, Darts, F1, Grand National (horse racing), Golf and even competitive games between our members on FIFA21.

Its content agnostic, meaning that it can be used for what ever you want to use it for. We use if mainly for various sports, but also do events for things like Grammy's, Survivor, Oscars etc... its super flexible in that way :)

Appreciate the feedback, I'm more concerned about the large volume of data entry when it comes to certain sports/events and if there's a way to copy over outcomes from one week to the next if one was to create a large list of those i.e. drivers in a race etc etc.

Sounds like it can be adapted easily enough though.

not sure if this helps but the way we get around that is for example if I was to do an F1 Race winner bet.

Id do the first 6/7 drivers with odds then do one outcome for the rest of the field with slightly increase odds to tempt member to bet.

Thanks for the tips. Just purchased, will see how much work we're talking about soon enough :)

Enjoy and if you have questions, just ask :) Hint: Don't try to do to much to start out with, you'll end up burning yourself out. I used to spend hours adding dozens of outcomes to each NFL game and NCAA Football game and members were only placing bets on the most common outcomes (like "Raiders Win") and not on any Props like "Carr throws 3+ TD's". Now I just do 4 outcomes per game (Team A Wins, Team B Wins, Team A +3, Team B -3) and then for the Prime Time games I might add a few team and player props like "Raiders score first", "Broncos score first" etc etc.

Once you get the hang of it, you should have no problem knocking out an event quickly. Find yourself a good reliable source for the ODDS instead of making up your own, use realistic ones (tons of Sportsbooks in Vegas will have reliable odds for F1)

Bob, absolutely. Already found some sportsbooks over at vegasinsider. I did of course overdo the outcomes. Thanks for the tips.

Couple (less than 10 easy :) of obvious questions for you:

1. Event close vs outcome close - I assume event close is a master switch beyond which outcome bets will not be accepted and outcome close is just a more granular end date??
2. Does the event view have a tab for outcomes or are they all only listed off the main event tab?
3. Making an event outcome sticky sort of makes it disappear for me. Could be a styling issue (using UIX styles).

As a feature suggestion - adding ability to duplicate an event would probably save a fair bit of data entry time as you can simply go back in and rename events and with minimal changes be ready fairly sharpish.

Yes, that is how it works. Its done that way so you can auto lock (or manually lock) individual outcomes without locking the entire event.

2. Does the event view have a tab for outcomes or are they all only listed off the main event tab?
The main tab "Event" is a paginated and filterable listing of all Outcomes associated with the Event.

Each Outcome itself has its own page (clicking on the Outcome Title will take you to that specific outcomes page), which is a paginated and filterable listing of all Wagers that have been placed on that specific Outcome.

3. Making an event outcome sticky sort of makes it disappear for me. Could be a styling issue (using UIX styles).
UIX is a pretty complex style, so it wouldn't surprise me that there could be some CSS issues. I develop towards the default core XF Style, so if a 3rd party style changes behaviors of a core CSS class, there isn't much I can do about that. The worst is when they make a radical change based on THREADS, not caring that other content types might also be using that same class as for its designed intended purpose.

Anyway... its hard for me to know without seeing the actual behavior that is happening. Could you post a screen shot or send me a link in private?

Hey @Nik

Not sure if you've seen that Sportsbook includes several Widget Definitions that allows you to create all sorts of different types of Sportsbook related Widgets, but you might want to check them out..

I saw your post about posting winners in a thread... There just so happens to be a Latest winning wagers Widget Definition that you could make use of now :)

You can expose all sorts of Sportsbook content anywhere via the XF Widget System.

Ooh, thanks Bob. Will have a look at those. I try to keep my widgets down to a minimum as many of our users never check them but in a pinch I'll definitely try one. Thanks again.
