I had to make a few adjustments to AMS permissions in General to make this happen.
First things first.
- There is a NEW Interface Group "AMS User Permissions - General".
- There is a NEW Permission "View category". This permission controls whether the viewing user can view AMS Categories.
- There is a NEW Permission "View articles by others". This permission controls whether the viewing user can view ALL Articles or just their own Articles.
- The permission "View articles" has been RENAMED to "View AMS" which is what the permission has always been used for. This permission simply controls whether the viewing user can view AMS or not.
View AMS: This permission controls whether the viewing user can view AMS.
View category: This permission controls whether the viewing user can view AMS Categories. This works exactly like the "View node" permission does for XenForo. If this is set to No at the global level, you will need to set to Allow at the individual category level. If this is set to Allow at the global level, you can revoke it at individual category levels (again, just like you can with Nodes).
IMO, its BEST to give allow "View category" at the global level (user group) and then revoke it at Category level if you don't want certain user groups to have access to certain categories (you can also use the Private Category functionality for this as well).
View articles by others: This permission controls whether the viewing user can view ALL articles or just their own articles. If this is set to no, then the viewing user can only see their OWN articles. You need to set this to ALLOW (just like you do with the "View threads by others") in order to see other users articles.
Here you can see the new permissions on both the Global Permissions and Category Permissions.
