I'm wondering if Link Directory supports Elasticsearch/XFES before adding it to my license.

I would like to know more if it supports a widget functionality to show like links compared to the descriptions and not whether the "search" function is improved.

Add-ons don't have to do anything beyond implementing search handlers for content types.

XFES does not have features / functions that add-ons can implement.

XF developers added some enhanced discussion thread functionality, however, that is specifically built for threads only.

Add-ons (XFRM, XFMG, AMS etc), can extend XFES to add custom features like those that XF adds for threads (similar threads), however, there's nothing to "implement" like you imply, it would have to be developed from scratch.

As for widgets? That is done via the XF Widget System by developing a Widget Definition, that isn't something that is done in XFES.

Most search related features are developed in search handlers (like the new quick search results for example).

Anyway, all of my add-ons work with XFES just the same as XFMG and XFRM do as I fully implement search handlers and all content types.

Would this be a suggestion that you'd be willing to entertain across the board for all add ons (AMS, etc.) to include a widget or block of "similar X"?

I had addonslab custom develop a related threads widget for AMS, Showcase, and RMS.

They might be willing to develop an LD one for you.
