Answered Confusion about series

Am I correct in that blog entries from different Blogs can go into the same series? That series in fact move across blogs and aren't tied to a Blog? Or said differently, they aren't part of the Blogging tree as such so there is no: Category > Blog > Series > blog entry path.

Because I have an old lady who is blogging like mad (which is fine), but she now has two Blogs with 7 series and tons of blog entries. She is reorganising them now and complains that she can't add a series to each of her two Blogs. But as far as I can tell that is not possible. I just want to check that I got this right.

Also, I can remove a blog entry from a member's series but I can't add it to another. All I see are my own two series. Is that by design or have I overlooked a setting?

Yes and No. It depends on the TYPE of SERIES.

Just like there are 2 types of BLOGS, there are 2 types of SERIES, Personal Series and Community Series.

Personal Series is similar to Personal Blog, which only the Series Owner can associate Blog Entries to the Series. They can only associate their OWN Blog Entries (from any Blog they own).

Community Series is similar to Community Blog, which allows the Series Owner to allow specific users or members of specific user groups, to be able to associated any of their own blog entries from any of their blogs.

So yes, a Series can have blog entries from different blogs, but its slightly restricted based on the type of series (Personal vs Community).

As series has NO CONNECTION with a BLOG or a CATEGORY. A Series is owned by a Member and depending on what permissions they have, they might only be allowed to create a Personal Series, which they can only associate Blog Entries that they own.

Again, a Series has NO CONNECTION with a BLOG or a CATEGORY.

She has two Blogs with several Blog Entries in each Blog. She also has 7 Series, which is just a collection of Blog Entries eg "My Favorite Recipes" and she connects several Recipes (Blog entries) from the 2 blogs she owns.

There is no such thing as a Series owned by a Blog. That is NOT what the feature is for, nor how it is designed.

Also, I can remove a blog entry from a member's series but I can't add it to another. All I see are my own two series. Is that by design or have I overlooked a setting?
This is by design. Removing content is a moderator function. Adding content is NOT a moderator function, that is a permissions based feature based on various create type permissions and scenarios based on the type of content (Personal or Community).

Hope that makes sense.

Okay, then I got it right. It was my first time dealing with this scenario and I needed the confirmation in case I overlooked something. Thanks!

Makes sense. Thanks for clearing that up.

Hmm, unless I am missunderstanding smth. this seems to work for me (with permission editAnySeries):
Click button Add to series, select Set series by url in the dialog and paste the URL of the target series 1747930873137.png

There are some differences between Series in AMS, IMS, Showcase and UBS. Most likely was a PAID request by a Premium license holder to enhance what Staff Members are allowed to do. Its definitely nice to be a bit more flexible IMO.
