Not Planned [XF1] Auto set cover image for video

Would it be possible to auto generate a thumbnail image as the cover when attaching a video file?
Or, maybe just shrink the actual video to the size of the cover image and display it as is.

Unfortunately, No. The reason why... you are not attaching a video, you are embedding it via the content editor. Its not like Chris and Jaxels media addons when the video is the main focus of the ITEM itself. If I ever decide to morph this into a CMS, a media item type would certainly be part of it and thumbing of the vid would be a core part of a media item type.
