Does AMS utilize the prefixes defined in the ACP for thread creation or is that a limitation of the core script that keeps it from it doing that?
I have found where you can choose the prefix to use for the created threads, but it seems like it should be able to pick up existing prefixes?
If we create the same prefixes for the forum node used to write to, will it use those duplicate prefixes?

Article Prefixes are for the content type ams_article
Resources Prefixes are for the content type resource
Thread Prefixes are for the content type thread

Each content type (Thread, Resource, AMS Article etc) that wants a prefix system, needs to create its own Prefix System for use with that content type. Its not a Content Type Handler, its similar to custom fields in that they are standalone systems for a particular content type.

XenForo does provide some templates, macros and helpers that XF itself (thread prefixes) and addon (XFRM Resource Prefixes, AMS Article Prefixes etc) use, which is why things look standardized between Thread Prefixes, Resource Prefixes, AMS Prefixes etc etc etc. (if one follows XF standards that is)

In short...

A Discussion thread can only use Thread Prefixes.

A Resource can only use Resource Prefixes

An AMS Article can only use AMS Article Prefixes.

It's been this way since XF 1.0, XFRM 1.0 and AMS 1.0.

I thought it might be. Was hoping the design was able to share prefixes.
Maybe in the future.
Trying to map prefixes from AMS (or any of the related add-ons) to created thread ones probably would be a bear.
Thanks!
