Create Thread in Forum

I make a new category and let the option to create thread in forum blank, after a while I decided to set it to a forum.
In the category is the discuss button not visible.
Is there a way to rebuild this?

Discussion threads are created when the item is create IF there is an associated forum set. If an item is created and there is no forum set, then that item WILL NOT have an associated discussion thread. Setting a forum for a category does NOT effect existing items. Same thing applies with existing items that do have discussion threads. Editing the category and removing the forum will not disable those discussions.

For items that do not have discussion threads, you will have to create a new thread manually, then edit the item and associate the newly created thread with the item (there is a showcase moderator permission for this).
