    You can't. I am using Core XF helpers and Mike, Kier and Chris D have said a million times that they won't remove those. Im not sure if XF2 is any different, but I know that won't change in XF1. Its not something that I am doing, its how XenForo works. Those are placeholders designed to inform the viewing user that there is an IMAGE in that spot.

    I don't like it, but nothing I can do about it. Its controlled by XenForo.

    Its probably in the top 5 most asked about subject on xenforo.com Its sparked a lot of debate over the past 7 years. There have been some pretty heated debates over it.
