When an article gets posted in a node, the link opens in a new window forcing users to sign into the forum again. Is there a way to have it either keep the cookie or have it open in the current tab?

Thanks,

That definitely is not standard behavior. I literally do the same exact thing as XFRM, which also does not append a target attribute to the link to the piece of content.

Could you have perhaps have edited the phrase and appended a target attribute??

There are no phrases or template edits. I am running AMS 2.2.33

What template posts the article to the node?? When viewing the source code it has the attribute _blank to the link so its definiently coded somewhere....

There is no Template, it's RAW text inserted in a post via a dynamic phrase (same as XenForo Resource Manger does it).

The phrase used by the create service that creates the post text is xa_ams_article_thread_create

The programming code in the service only generates the standard link (it does not prepend a target attribute to it).

Can you edit the post and screenshot the raw post text?

Link to show you it opens in a new tab: DALLAS FALL NATIONALS 2024

The Link clearly does NOT have a target attribute, so it is a standard link in a post (which core XF control s, not add-ons).

Not sure what to tell you as that definitely is not standard XF behavior. Log into Area 51 and see for yourself. The Link to the article in the first post in the associated thread hasn't changed in 15 years. It's just a basic link to the piece of content.

Being that the link in the post does not have a target attribute, means that something else Another add-on most likely) is in play. Can't say I've ever seen that before tho. If you don't have a lot of add-ons, you could disable them all except AMS, the test the link and then enable them one by one test after enabling each one until you find the conflict:)

AMS does not control links, XF router system does. There is not target attribute on either of those, so something on YOUR site, is causing those links to be opened in a new window (AMS does not control that).

Btw, I am able to click on the link in the first post in that thread on your site and it takes me directly to the article.

It does not open a new tab

Interesting. I tried 3 different browsers before posting. All 3 have the same results for me opening in a new tab.

Disabled all addons expect for AMS and the issue still exist. This is a puzzling issue....lol

Indeed, however, I can assure you that AMS has nothing to do with it as add-ons do not control the behavior of links in posts (or any content type that uses the XF RTE).

It's just a standard XF link in a post. There are no target attributes being added by AMS.

Something on your site (not AMS) is adding target attributes to those link.

It kind sounds like you have an add-on that is designed to open any links in posts in a new browser tab (although, it's not doing that for me on your site with Android for Chrome).

Anyway, I don't want to guess what it might be, but can assure you that it's not something that any code in AMS (or XFRM, SC, UBS etc) is causing :)

@Bob After doing some extensive research I found a post on Xenforo where Paul B says that if you're a staff member the links open in a new tab. I changed the News Bot to a registered user with no staff option and the links open in the same window now. So that was the fix. Crazy that a staff members posts do that...Thanks for your help Bob.
