I'm posting this as an RMS suggestion, but I certainly see it as a function across all/most XenAddons products
I recognise it's quite a 'blue sky' suggestion, but, eh, dream big or go home?
Scenario: You have an RMS/XenAddons Item with an external URL (Item Field, value match: URL), and within a forum post a user includes that exact URL with applicable unfurl criteria.
Outcome: A cron task identifies (and you replace .. more on that below) the forum post URL with the RMS/XenAddons Item URL.
This will assist in driving traffic and users to your RMS/XenAddons Item, and hopefully thus highlight and incentivise usage of reviews, ratings, comments, etc. At the moment, I'm doing this manually, if/when I come across such a forum posts and I have a matching RMS item.
So, how do I see the mechanics of this working for RMS and all/most XenAddon's products? ( Eg. SC, IMS, AMS, EMS, UBS, etc. )
Similar in concept to how both Thread Tagging Improvements and Tag Essentials - with AI auto tagging and XFRM support have ACP functions showing possible tag opportunities for an admin/moderator to action.
Thus, each applicable XenAddons function would have an ACP nav entry to a similar common/shared display/action function across all XenAddons products. An hourly/daily cron task would trigger to scan (XFES search?) of all posts since last run, and if it identified an unfurl applicable URL that had a match with URL in an RMS/XenAddons item field, it would display it within the ACP function for a moderator/admin to then review and/or trigger a replacement of the URL.
In basic form, it would just display an applicable post title (with 100 character preview?), with link to the post, as an opportunity/candidate for RMS/XenAddons link replacement. In more advanced form, it would also display a 'Replace with: " and trailing that would be a button(s) for the applicable XenAddons product that it would then replace the post URL with the XenAddons Item's URL. I say button(s) - plural possible - because you may have that external URL existing across multiple XenAddons product's items.
No doubt there's more detail/workflow thinking required, but putting it out there to see if there's thinking from others that this would be a great function to have in XenAddons products.
